Ask, Plan, and Agent for MuleSoft teams

How the three Cockpit modes map to a MuleSoft week: read the tenant, sequence the change, work inside the repo.

September 7, 2026 · 6 min read

Most MuleSoft weeks die in context-switching: Runtime Manager in one tab, a spec in another, Cursor in a third, Studio if the laptop still builds. Orca Cockpit keeps one chat and three permissions.

Ask — read the tenant

Ask is where Sign in drops you. Questions hit what is actually deployed: CloudHub 1.0 and 2.0, Runtime Fabric, replicas, vCores, APIs nobody is policing. If Connections is dark, Ask will be honest. That honesty is the product.

Plan — shape the work

Plan turns “we need a Salesforce sync” into an API-led sequence you can argue with: System API, Process API, Experience API, which environment, what OAuth happens on the VM. Nothing is applied until you say so.

Agent — do the work

Agent mode stays inside the Mule project on the dedicated Project VM. Scaffold, DataWeave, tests, git. It is not a generic sidebar that forgets the pom. Deploy remains Beta and tenant-dependent.

IDE 360

Left bots, center modes, right VM. The default Project is created on first account visit. Finish OAuth on that VM. You should never be stranded in a thread that cannot see its own files or login state.

A full-week thread, compressed
Ask: what is unpoliced in this org?
Plan: add an Experience API in front of billing-exp.
Agent: scaffold on this Project.
Ask: can this Connected App see CloudHub 2.0?
Plan: deploy steps only — wait for my environment name.

More from the bench

Request access to Orca Cockpit.

Access is invite-only. Email sivaji@orcaesb.com or rajiv@orcaesb.com — we review each request and send a Clerk invite one user at a time. After you set a password, fill the vault, download Cockpit, and Sign in from the desktop to land in Ask. Your first Project is created on first Setup visit. No checkout during this beta.
